It is a ctually a matter of taste, so go to a showroom and look for whatever you like better. That is the only way. Keep in mind that lighting conditions have to be similar to your setup. Then, think about what kind of HD support you need. 1366x768 is OK only if you are OK with DVD quality. If you want to get a better picture quality from HD content then make sure that you TV native resolution is 1920x1080. For Blu-Rays and HD-DVDs you want 1080p.

I have a 42" plasma that i got two years ago... i love it and have had zero problems but it is out dated and twice as heavy as plasmas these days.

A couple of things to remember is you can get into a plasma for cheap these days via Sams, Costco, Walmart, or I even have an HEB selling a 42" for $900...

LCD is lighter and better for mounting although both are acceptable. Plasma looks better from further away while LCD is much better than Plasma in close quarters and I believe Plasmas have better viewing from angles than LCD...

LCD you do not have to worry about burn in and they should last a little longer...

DLP, I do not know much about... is that available on flat screens or bigger bulkier units only?

DLP is great but the problem is they are expensive and they arent a flat screen so you cant hang them. You will lose picture at viewing angles with lcd, they run too hot, and the black levels arent right in them. For the money you want to spend you can get a great plasma, everyone is right about it being 1080P. Take your time, shop around. Go to epinions.com when you find make and model #'s you want to look up.

I just bought a 56 inch samsung 1080p dlp for 1200 from circuit city and couldnt be happier. It weighs less than 90 pounds, black levels look great and baseball looks amazing. Viewing angles and what not are great--absolutely no complaints--i don't see why anyone would pay more for a plasma or lcd screen that looks the same
